Report by our man in Havana, Graham Elenor

A magnificent innings of 147 by Gary Randell was not enough to save relegated Portland Red Triangle from defeat in their final NSA Dorset Premier Division game of the season at Colehill. The home side recorded a 40-run victory after compiling a daunting 337 all out after winning the toss and batting.

Randell came to Triangle's rescue after they had reached a perilous 78-6 in the 20th over of their reply. He received excellent support from Jason Styles in a seventh wicket partnership of 192, which brought a complete turnaround in the match.

The in-form all rounder, notching up his second century in three innings following his 141 not out against Broadstone, cracked 19 fours and six sixes from the 109 balls he received. Styles, too, was in good form finding the boundary nine times as well as hitting two sixes in his innings of 69, as the pair posted a new club record partnership for the seventh wicket.

Unfortunately both were dismissed with the score on 270, but their fine effort did enable the visitors to close on a highly respectable 297-9 after their allotted 50 overs.

Earlier, Triangle had reduced the home side to 7-2, before Chris Edmonds (44) and Mark Krentzman (60) took the score to 99 in only the 17th over. Further success for Triangle saw Colehill at 134-5, but a hard hitting innings of 53 from Ross Blandford revived their fortunes, taking the score to 208 in the 33rd over.

It was then left to the explosive innings of 84 by skipper Nigel Woodruff to take the game away from the Portlanders. The Colehill captain blasted eight fours and six sixes in a 55 minute stay at the crease as his side's score passed the 300 mark. To their credit, the Triangle bowlers kept plugging away and actually bowled Colehill out, the first time they have dismissed a side during the season, thereby gaining ten points from the game.
