| (Brief) Report by
Graham Elenor, our man in Poole An excellent unbeaten century by Poole's New Zealand import Guy Bidwell paved the way for his side's 104-run win against Portland Red Triangle at Poole Park. The Kiwi all-rounder rescued the hosts from 24-3, batting throughout the rest of the innings in a 156-minute stay at the crease. When Glen Kelman claimed the prized wicket of Poole skipper David Miller for a duck, the islanders seemed on top but Bidwell wrested the initiative away in a fourth-wicket partnership of 91 in 24 overs with Ben Skipworth (29). Bidwell found another useful ally in Ed Hockey (32), as they compiled a sixth-wicket partnership of 60. Bidwell hoisted his century with a massive six off Ryan in the final over to take the total to 221. Triangle never recovered from losing opener Simon Barrett in the first over and slumped to 28-5. Only a ninth-wicket partnership of 48 between Alex Charlton and Bill Trevett gave the score some respectability. |
