Match Report

A fairly good display in the field by Triangle, led by stand-in skipper Marc Nott (who may well take over the reins next season) as Alex Charlton was busy exploring the ocean floor.

Scott Males bowled a tight first spell, going for just 7 runs. Quayle took over behind the stumps after Neven injured his finger and then took a smart catch off Sawyer. Evergreen John Ryan bowled well straight through, but his knees seized up on the artificial wicket. Morris bowled 2 extra overs in no balls.

Nott continued his good form with 60 to follow his 135 from the previous week. Dave Males was distracted by Tombs' boisterous celebrations as England notched up a test win over the Australians, and edged behind. A partnership of 89 between Nott and Ryan nearly saw Triangle home until Nott was undone by a ball that kept low and Ryan was caught out slogging. Sawyer was run out by a direct hit thrown from the boundary, while Tombs always looked in trouble from the moment he stepped up to the crease.

Triangle's last hope Neven was judged to have gloved the ball to the keeper off Horlock, and then refused to go, contesting Quayle's decision claiming it had hit him on the shoulder. Morris and Strong were left with the task of hitting the winning runs off the remaining two overs, but young Strong was bowled by opener Abbot with 5 deliveries remaining.

No bowling analysis for Triangle's innings as stand-in captain Nott forgot to bring the scorebook and no-one copied up the second half of PRT's innings.
