| Match Report | With relegation still possible, these fears were eased with a second successive victory as Alex Charlton's side completed a rare double over bitter rivals, on the field at least, Pokesdown Willows. Dave Males produced his finest innings of the season for the Sunday side, carrying his bat for 81 unbeaten runs, receiving varying levels of support throughout the afternoon. Wickets steadily fell as Triangle slowly moved towards the vital fifth and final batting point. Graham Elenor, in his last match for Triangle this year, shared in the highest partnership of the season for the tenth wicket. 175 didn't look much for the home side to chase down, but all four bowlers were in rare form, as the opener Butcher saw his many batting partners disappear around him, without contributing anything of note to the total. An untypically frugal fielding performance helped put the pressure on as only 10 extras were conceded, and once Elenor had beguiled Butcher with swing and flight, causing him to attempt the charge and was stumped by the lightning gloves of evergreen Neven. Carter provided little resistance to Triangle's man of the moment and the Willows were left weeping as Triangle continued their late surge up the table with a maximum points haul. |
