Man of the Match PRT:Nott, Marc
Match Report

After the disappointment of finding he hadn't in fact hit his first fifty for Triangle against Corfe Mullen due to the game being abandoned, Marc Nott hit a maiden century (135), as Alex Charlton's side piled on the runs against Cattistock. The early loss of opener Lenny Hansford, who retired due to a severe nose bleed, brought Gates to the middle and he soon settled with Dave Males as they put on 82 before the fall of the first wicket. Nott then was in and signaled his intent from the off, smashing the first delivery to the boundary and then showed no signs of slowing up.

In his mammoth innings, Nott blasted the Cattistock attack for 24 fours and 1 six, before holing out off the penultimate ball of the innings as he tried to get Triangle past the 300 mark. Nott received good support from veteran all-rounder John Ryan, who himself notched up 50 runs on a fine batting track, as the pair put on 89 runs for the second wicket, and then from his captain as they forged a 102 run partnership.

Cattistock then showed that they too were a fine batting side, and took to their task of chasing 300 for victory with some measured hitting, before Scott Males did what the opening bowlers had failed to do and removed Baggs' off stump. Swatridge, then Nobbs fell quickly afterwards, bringing together Golledge and Langford, who continued to take the fight to the Triangle attack. Alex Charlton then brought himself on to bowl, and coupled with the return of opener Squeaker Browne, they finally made the breakthrough as Cattistock were getting too close to the target for comfort. Browne then rolled back the years as he took 4 wickets in his final over, including a hattrick, adding some respectability to his bowling figures.

The outgoing skipper had the final say, bowling Symes to earn a 26 run victory and secure Division 5 cricket for the Sunday side in 2006.
