In addition to next season's fixture lists (see below), we now have the dates for pre-season indoor nets at Royal Manor. These will start on Sunday 15th January, from 11am-1pm, and are scheduled to run up to and including Sunday 2nd April. Please note that there will not be a nets session on 17th February as the school is closed for the half-term holiday that weekend. The full list can be viewed by clicking here.
There are also two confirmed friendlies already for next year, against perennial visitors Deando Ruxley and Bexley Park, click here for dates

Santa's Little Helper
Christmas Bazaar
The first Christmas bazaar held by PRT was a minor success raising nearly £400 on the afternoon. The Club would like to thank Mrs Stewkesbury and Mrs Males for their efforts organising the event and also the YMCA for their input, as well as all the club members who helped on the day. Grant Neven was a great sport in donning an elf costume in his role as Santa's Cornish Pixie (pictured right, click on image for full-size version), while TV's Steven Browne even put himself out by turning up on the premise of opening the event, but found himself in the role of kitchen hand for the afternoon.
2006 Fixture Lists
Next season's fixture lists for all the weekend sides are now online - Saturday 1st XI, Saturday 2nd XI, Sunday 1st XI, Sunday 2nd XI.
Club Shirts
New playing shirts (as seen in the recent Dorset Echo article, click here) are available to all members at a subsidised rate, thanks to the donation from The George Inn's St George's Day beer festival. The event which was ably manned by Tony Quayle and Pete Tombs, with assistance and extensive sampling by Club Chairman Conrad Cole, Club Secretary Grant Neven, Club Captain Richard Stewkesbury and Club Stalwarts Dave Males and Squeaker Browne.
The shirts are available in sizes XL (46"/48") (modeled by Mr Peter Tombs, left, with Threadworks head honcho Rhys Parfitt) L (42") & M(38") (with XXL available on request for our more generously proportioned* players). Prices are £10 for senior members, £5 for juniors, see either Conrad, Stumpy or yours truly if you wish to purchase one. The good people at Threadworks have printed another batch for us with a few available in the smaller size (34") for junior members.
Shirts for the U13 and U16 youth sides, sponsored by Portland Port, are now available at £10 each, from Grant Neven.

Neville's Notes Returns!
With Christmas nearly here, what better way to prepare for the forthcoming festivities than by tuning in to the mind of Grant "Neville" Neven and enjoying an edition of his hugely popular (in his household at least) Neville's Notes. Treasure this as it's the first edition submitted to the site in two years, ironically the last one was a seasonal message of sorts, it's here if you wish to click.

AGM Fallout
A fairly good turnout at this year's AGM saw the official presentation of £500 sponsorship for the youth sides by Rupert Best of Portland Port, along with donations from the Grand Charity Fete to some local causes.
Chairman Conrad Cole announced he intends to end his term of office at the next AGM in 2006, while the rest of the club officials were re-elected to their posts. Membership fees will stay the same for senior players and unemployed/students, but the decision was made that junior players (under 16's) will only be charged £5 next season. Match fees will remain the same next year.
Last season's team captains agreed to continue with their roles, though the Sunday 1st XI mantle was handed from Alexander Charlton to Marc Nott, as Alex is looking to concentrate on his scuba diving next summer; while the PRT Evening League side will be led by Tom Cole with Tony Quayle and Dave Clifford standing down.
Under 13 Match Report, by G. Neven
Portland Red Triangle U13's vs. Bridport U13's
An experienced Bridport side won the toss and elected to bat in front of a good crowd at Redlands. Portland began well when a quick piece of thinking by wicketkeeper Christian resulted in the run out of a Bridport opener. Portland continued to bowl and field well against their more experienced opponents and with 2 Bridport batsman having to retire on 25 the innings closed on 136-3.
Portland's openers 'Rattie' and 'The Prof began well and after 4 overs Portland were well up with the run rate. A change of bowling brought 3 quick wickets and despite a solid innings from Scott (who was given out to a debatable decision) Portland fell short of their target and their innings closed on 96-5.
Coach Grant Neven nevertheless was more than pleased "All the team played well in what was their first ever match, the opposition coach was impressed with them and I personally could not have asked for a better effort, they can all be proud of themselves."
New Sponsors
Along with Portland Port sponsoring the youth side (see above), we welcome on board The Dorothy Inn's Steve Parker, who has joined our group of match ball sponsors for next season. PRT heartily recommends The Dorothy Inn for any touring sides looking to find accommodation while playing in the Weymouth area.
Player Profiles
Always a contentious issue, so we have now developed a "Profile Changes Request" form for those who have found that some of their details may be incorrect, missing or just plain wrong. Please feel free to fill the form in if you require any alterations to your profile on the site, click here.

U12 & U16 Indoor League Fixtures
The fixture lists for the Weymouth Sports Club Indoor Cricket Season 2005/6 are now online and can be viewed by clicking here or can be accessed via the fixtures section in the menu on the left.
New shirts sponsored by Portland Port, are now available for the youth sides and can be purchased from club coach Grant "Stumpy" Neven at £10 each.
Annual General Meeting
The AGM will be held this Friday 25th November, in the Portland YMCA lounge at 7.30pm. All paid-up club members are welcome to attend. If any members wish to have any changes made to the club constitution or new policies added, then please submit these in writing before the meeting to the Club Secretary, Grant Neven. Otherwise feel free to come along to the meeting with your proposals. Election of club officers will also happen on the night, so if you feel like standing for one of the positions on the main committee (the role of treasurer is always there for the taking) or simply would like to vote, then please attend.
Dear Doidge Returns!
While checking through the site since updating the design many moons ago, we've only just discovered that young Doidge's problem page had been orphaned from the main site and lost to the few that actually bother to frequent this corner of cyberspace. Luckily this section is back up and running, and can be found by clicking on the features section of the menu. Ben is now available again to answer your questions (drop him a line by following the link on his page) and has already got back into the swing of things replying to a fresh query already.

JUNIOR NETS NOTICE
This week's junior nets at Royal Manor Arts College have been cancelled at short notice as the school is using the sports hall for exams, but only told us about this yesterday. At the moment it's for this week only, but check back here if the situation changes.

Presentation Night
This year's event was a great success, and well-attended by virtually all club members. Gary Randell was once again awarded the top batsman and Sam Polley the pick of the bowlers in the Saturday 1st XI, while for the 2nd XI, Tony Quayle
won the batting trophy and to the surprise
of many, Bill Gates was the top bowler. For the
Sunday sides Dave Males was top 1st XI batsman,
with skipper Alex Charlton securing the bowling
trophy, and the 2nd XI saw veterans Trevor
"Buster" Brown and Squeaker "Steven"
Browne picking up the honours.
The evening league captains both
named their players of the season, with Dave Males
winning his second trophy of the night as Triangle's
best player, and Dana Milverton as The George Inn's.
Aaron Riley was the Young Player of the Year trophy,
reflecting his progress this season and selection
for the 1st XI; club secretary Grant Neven was awarded
the Clubman trophy for his youth coaching and hard
work behind the scenes, and Marc Nott topped the
voting on the night as Players' Player.
Full Echo report, list of award
winners, and picture can be viewed by clicking here.
School Partnership and Junior
Nets
Portland Red Triangle has now established a partnership
with Royal Manor school, and every Thursday evening,
from 6pm - 8pm, our club coaches will be holding net
sessions in the school hall. All junior members are
welcome to attend, along with any senior players who wish to help
out. Contact Stumpy for further details. Full Echo
article can be viewed

Newsletter
Over the weekend we launched the
first PRTCC Newsletter, designed to keep players
and friends of Triangle up to date with events during
the long winter months. Those club members who filled
in their email address on their membership forms
this season should have received their copy already
(except for Glyn and Lenny, whose addresses couldn't
be reached, if they could confirm them again a fresh
copy will be heading your way).
If you would like to receive a copy
of future editions, then please fill in your name
and email address in the box on the bottom right.
Alternatively, if you found our periodical was not
your cup of tea, then feel free to unsubscribe yourself
from the mailing list using the same entry form
below. You can also view the newsletter online by
clicking
here (future editions will be emailed only).
Presentation Night
If you haven't already purchased your ticket or have
confirmed you're attending this Friday's event and
will be paying on the night, please
do so soon so we can finalise numbers for the buffet.
If you haven't already been harassed on the phone
by either Stewkes, Quayle, Stumpy, Conrad or
even Alex Charlton, then contact any of these, or
indeed Tony Morris, to reserve your place queuing
at the bar or the buffet table - contact numbers
available through the link on the menu.
The Blues Club at Portland United Football Club has been booked (the same venue as last
year) for Friday 14th October. Tickets to this gala
event are available and the prices are
£10 for adults, £5 for juniors. For this measly sum
you will have full buffet privileges, a disco and of
course the usual trophies will be presented, including
the always controversial Players' Player award, which
is voted for on the night - previous winners include
Dave Blackman and Simon Barrett.
Trophies
If any players still haven't returned
their annual trophies (not the plastic replicas)
please get in contact with Conrad or Stumpy, as
we are still missing some which were handed out
2 years ago and have been unable to track them down
(thanks mainly to someone not keeping a list of
who actually was awarded them).
Sponsorship News
Portland Port's Rupert Best has
kindly offered to sponsor next season's youth teams
(there will be an U16 side running in 2006 along
with the usual U13 team). New shirts for the youth
side with Portland Port's logo will soon be available
for this sides. If any players knows someone
or business who would be interested in sponsoring
Triangle next season then please get in touch with
Club Secretary Grant Neven, or Treasurer Tony Morris
(contact details available via the menu on the left)
or email
the club for further details

The season is finally over, the
final friendlies were played out over the weekend
with a close game ending in defeat against Abbotsbury,
but the Club Captain restored pride when his
Select XI vanquished the might of The Gentlemen
of The George Inn. A return football match is on
the cards and the date will be confirmed soon. Anyone

Webshop Commission
Thanks to the few that have been
clicking on the online shopping links (above and

to buy some goods. The first commission cheque has
come through earning £20 that has gone straight
into the club's funds. There are more online stores
being added all the time to including the always
popular Amazon, Play.com and CDWow stores, as well
as a few sports shops Comet, Sky Digital, RAC Breakdown

Charity Fete
Thank you to all club members who
either gave up their time to help with setting up
the fete, manning the stalls on the day or just
turning up. Although the weather was against us,
we still managed to raise just over £2000, which
helps towards paying the ground rent and other bills
next season, as well as enough to donate to some
local charities in the near future.
The Weakest Link?
Squeaker is the Weakest Link!
Congratulations to Steven "Squeaker"
Browne on winning Monday evening's edition of the
Weakest Link, scooping a jackpot of £1400. Triangle's
Squeaker went toe to toe with Anne Robinson, literally
discussing the price of fish with her (well, lobsters
anyway). He also showed his depth of knowledge,
correctly answering that Tom
Cruise starred in the recent War of the Worlds film, Roger the Dodger was a character from the Beano
and also revealing himself to be an avid watcher of
Celebrity Love Island.
Friendlies
A new fixture date for your diaries,
the now traditional game against The Gentlemen of
The George Inn will take place on Sunday 18th September,
against a Select XI chosen by Club Captain Richard
Stewkesbury. The provisional line up is:
Richard Stewkesbury (Cpt) Conrad
Cole (VC) Tom Cole Dave Males Scott
Males T. G. Waight (Wkt) Bill Trevett Tony
Morris Marc Nott John Baxter Keith

Friendly Fixtures:
Just a quick note, the original
dates for the end of season friendlies were incorrect,
we are playing Leighton Buzzard this Sunday, 4th
September and Abbotsbury on Saturday 17th September
- the week after the fete -
not as originally posted on this site and in the
fixture cards. Contact Stumpy if you are available
and want to play in either fixture.

Final League Update:
Jon Dixon
The Saturday 1st XI finished
the season on a high note by beating Hamworthy Recreation
at Reforne to make sure of their Division One status,
while condemning the visitors to the drop. Jon Dixon (right)
rolled back the years to record very economical
figures with the ball, but failed to take a wicket,
then smashed his way to one run short of a deserved
fifty. Scott Males' prodigious swing bowling yielded
3 wickets on his return to the first team, while
Jason Styles ended his Triangle career with 52,
though surely he'll return with Gary Randell next
season?
Meanwhile at Beaminster, Tony
Quayle's 2nds suffered a crushing defeat as their
hosts put them into bat on a damp track and a combination
of fine bowling and some poor shot selections saw
Triangle dismissed for just 78. As the sun
shining and the pitch drying out, Beaminster made
no mistake and lost only two wickets as they easily
reached the target, with Quayle's men left with
a solitary point and to rue another season that
promised much to begin with, and then promotion
slipped from their grasp.
With Alex Charlton absent, Marc
Nott was handed the reins of the Sunday 1st XI for
the trip to Lytchett Matravers and made a fine debut
as skipper by losing the toss and then realising
he'd left the scorebook at home. Luckily Marco recovered
to inspire a fine fielding performance, restricting
the home side to 208. After an extended tea while
the conclusion of the test match was viewed, Triangle
lost the early wickets of Scott Males and Tony Quayle,
before captain Nott went in to steady the ship.
Partnerships of 58 with Dave Males (29, who was
distracted by the wild celebrations of Mr. Peter
Tombs as Giles hit the winning runs for England
and edged behind) and then 89 with John Ryan (37)
looked to be heading Triangle to victory as the
run rate was above the required, but the skip was
undone by Horlock, and wickets soon started to tumble.
Portland's last great hope Grant Neven was given
out by Tony Quayle for a controversial (well to
Stumpy) caught behind off the glove (via the shoulder),
but the islanders were bowled out 22 runs short.

Weekend Update:
The Saturday 1st XI all but assured
their place in next season's Division 1 with victory
away to Sherborne on Saturday. As both Fovant and Hamworthy
lost, making this week's visit of the latter a much
more comfortable affair. A fine fielding performance
and not so fine batting performance by the hosts gave
Triangle a modest target of 120 for victory, and Jon
Dixon was back in the runs, top-scoring with 55 as Portland
eased to victory.
Pete Tombs took charge for the first
time in a competitive match for Triangle, leading the
Saturday 2nd XI to a close victory against Puddletown.
Dave Males continued to make runs with his new bat,
posting a score of 94, and sharing in a hundred partnership
with son Scott (30), before he was betrayed when Males
junior triggered him just short of a well-deserved century.
242 proved too much for Puddletown to chase down, with
the departing Bill Gates the pick of the bowlers with
figures of 3-11.
Marco Nott, 135
Alex Charlton finished his last game as Sunday skipper with
a win against Division 5 promotion hopefuls Cattistock
in a high-scoring game at Reforne. Marc Nott finally
broke through the 50-run barrier in weekend cricket
with style, going not just to record his first half
century for Triangle, but went on to score 135! John
Ryan chipped in with a useful 50, while Dave Males (26),
Bill Gates (27), Charlton (19*) and Lenny Hansford
(8, retired - nose bleed) made up the rest of the mammoth
total of 299, aided by 60 extras. Cattistock made a
game of it, eventually bowled out for 270, and veteran
Squeaker Browne - available due to the 2nd's bye week
- took a hat-trick to finish the visitors off, on a torrid
day for bowlers.

10th August, 2005
The Saturday 1st XI slipped back
into the relegation battle with a loss away to Div 1
high-flyers Suttoners. Put into bat first at Dean Park,
Simon Barrett's side made a less than inspiring 160/6,
with Gary Randell again the pick of the batsmen, hitting
49* sharing partnerships of 38 with Dave Blackman (20)
and 47 with Martin Hewson (28). Ben Doidge was injured
shortly after his innings of 7 fine runs (out lbw),
requiring a trip to casualty to sew up his eye (pictures
available shortly). Triangle's one-man team (in the
absence of Jan Davey) were led by Randell as he took
3-23, but Suttoners proved a bit too good, especially
opener Chris Insall (83*), and knocked off the
runs in just 25.2 overs.
In Tony Quayle's continued absence,
the Saturday 2nd XI were once again led by Grant "Stumpy"
Neven, and this week the rains stayed away as Bradford
Abbas were beaten. A maiden half-century for Triangle
by opener Chris Skinner (61) helped the home side on
their way to setting a total of 210 all out. The resistance
of the visitors captain, Steve Cake was finally broken
by the flight and guile (and a loopy straight ball)
of Bill Gates, and he was out just short of a deserved
century on 92. After the talismanic Cake was gone (he
left soon after to go to a party), Bradford Abbas were
skittled. There were a few heated moments as "Cucumber"
Neven disputed some close run out and stumping decisions
with the youth umpires, but order was restored, and
the reverend's fine form with the ball continued as
he picked up 4 wickets. All-rounder Skinner chipped
in by mopping up the tail to claim three of his own.
Alex Charlton's embittered side entertained
fellow strugglers Lytchett Minster on Sunday and finally
recorded their second win. Following up the previous
week's impressive batting display where Dave Males hit
67, and Marco Nott thought he had hit his first 50 for
the club before the game was abandoned, Triangle were
almost back to their best beating Minster by 9 wickets.
Graham Elenor, making a rare guest appearance on a stopover
from his travels in the Far East, showed the Portland
faithful what they had been missing as he characteristically
dismissed the tail to claim another 5 wicket haul. Jon
Dixon made short work of chasing down the meager total
of 117, as he smashed his way to another 50, with Dave
Males playing a fine role as ice to Dicko's fire. 20
points were in the bag, and Triangle moved off the bottom
of Division 5 and closer to safety.

26th July, 2005
Weekend Update: The Saturday 1st XI continued their
recent mixed form, following their loss to Weymouth
II with a victory against Marnhull at Reforne, thanks
almost entirely to the return of spin king Jan "I
bowl it into the batsman" Davey who picked up 4
wickets, and some other players chipped in with wickets
and runs. This was all for naught as a Davey-less Triangle
lost away to fellow mid-table promotion hopefuls Swanage.
Ben Doidge finally found some form with the bat and
hit 48, getting himself bowled before he could notch
his first half century of the year, while Gary Randell
continued his fine form with the bat with an unbeaten
72 as PRT set a target of 198 for victory. Despite Sam
Polley picking up 4 wickets in a fine spell of bowling,
Triangle were unable to keep the run rate down and Swanage
won with 7 balls to spare.
Tony Quayle's 2nd XI are falling
off the pace each week as they appear unable to find
their early season winning formula. Recent defeats to
promotion rivals Abbotsbury and Martinstown see Triangle
residing in 4th in Division 7 (West) with their early
season points average of just under 20 now down to just
under 14 and almost 3 points off the pace. Ken Dodson
returned to the fray against Martinstown to hit 49 (triggered
LBW by Mr G. Bartholomew),
while in comparison Tom Cole returned from his travels
down under to slightly less acclaim and was bowled for
single figures. Quayle's successful experiment in opening
with Bill Trevett who hit 82 against Abbotsbury the
previous week, backfired
as he was out for a duck, and Dave Males ground out
17 runs from 30 overs as Triangle posted a gettable
183. Bill Gates showed Quayle what he had been missing
by taking a hat-trick in an impressive 5 wicket haul,
but alas the 2nds went down easily.
The Sunday 1st XI welcomed Dave Blackman
back to the fold to strengthen their batting line-up
and he duly did the business hitting a stylish 42 against
Winton Sports. A familiar collapse followed as Triangle
were eventually bowled out for 169. A dubious run out
decision turned the course of the game, after the skipper
had dismissed two of the top three order, and of course
that man went on to hit 148 of Winton's 170 runs as
the home side cruised to victory.

Apologies for the lack of updates,
but hopefully the site is back on track for the rest
of the season.
The Saturday 1st XI appear to have
got over their early season blip, and have strung together
a sequence of three victories, culminating with a win
away to Beaminster this weekend. Half centuries from
Simon Browne and the evergreen Gary Randell helped the
islanders reach their target of 182 in the final over,
moving them up to 6th in Division One away from the
dreaded relegation zone.
Tony Quayle's 2nd XI continued their
march to promotion from Division Seven (West) with a
fine win against Old Blandfordians. An opening stand
of 184 between Martin Hewson (93) and Bill Gates (67)
in the Reforne mist allowed Triangle to post a daunting
score of 225/6. Dave Clifford then claimed career best
figures of 6-26 as the sun finally shone on a dismal
afternoon, and the visitors were skittled for 86.
The Sunday 1st XI teeter on the brink
of relegation from Division Five following their third
consecutive defeat away to Gillingham 2nds. Alex Charlton's
side posted a lowly 144 all out on the north Dorset
artificial wicket, and then the home side proceeded
to demonstrate how to bat on it by knocking off the
runs in just under 20 overs. It could have been a different
story if one of the five catches had been held. Sometime
Saturday 1st XI 'keeper, Grant "Stumpy" Neven
had to give up the gloves with what was later diagnosed
as strained wrist ligaments, and may be out for 2 weeks.
Meanwhile, Squeaker Browne's Sunday
2nds pulled off a surprise victory as they claimed the
scalp of previously unbeaten Division Seven leaders,
Avon Social Club, by a close 15 runs. Trevor "Buster"
Brown missed out on his first century of the season
with a fine knock of 90, and good support elsewhere
helped Triangle to their third win of their debut season.

Cricket Force:
Thanks for those hardy few who attended last weekend's
event to refurbish the pavilion and grounds, there is
still work to do before the season gets underway, so
any help at the weekend's will be appreciated. Thanks
also to B&Q who supplied us with paint and building
materials for the event, and those fine people at Portland
Stone for donating a skip.

be up for the start of the season.
Fete: Tony Quayle has successfully
negotiated with Phones4U to donate the first prize for
the Summer Fete, which will be a top of the range phones
and accessories up to the value of £1000. The raffle
tickets themselves will also have a voucher printed
on the back so you can get a discount in the Weymouth
branch, proving more of an incentive to buy up those
tickets!
Other News: PRT now has a
"webshop" at www.buy.at/prtcc,
where any purchases made through the links there will
contribute a donation to our club. There are around
80 online stores that are participating in this
scheme are Amazon, CDWow, Play, Comet so follow the
links above and to the left to find out more.
In memorium: Our sympathies
go out to the Adams family after the death of Vice President
and former Triangle player Philip Adams, the funeral
is this Tuesday (1st March) at All Saints Church, Portland.
This unfortunately follows on from the passing of
Graham's mother, Molly Elenor, who was tragically killed

AGM Update:
The AGM was held on 2nd November,
2004.
Unfortunately long-standing member
and player of PRT CC, Graham Elenor, has resigned from
his roles as Secretary, Groundsman and Club Captain
and has currently left the Club.
Martin Hewson also stepped down
as Saturday 1st XI Captain, with Simon Barrett likely
to take his place.
Grant Neven has assumed the role
of Club Secretary, with Gareth "Rupert" Waight
and Pete Tombs taking on groundskeeping duties. Mr Neven
has also relinquished the position of Saturday 2nd XI
Captain, which will now be led by the joint Captains
Tony Quayle and David Clifford. Sunday Captains have
yet to be elected, but a provisional candidate for the
role of Club Captain is Richard Stewkesbury.
Club Membership
The club is looking to have a more
comprehensive insurance policy this season, which will
be through the ECB. Membership fees this year are likely
to be £20 for senior players and £10 for juniors/students/unemployed.
These fees include an affiliate membership to the Portland
YMCA.
