| Match Report | An experienced Bridport side won the toss and elected to bat in front of a good crowd at Redlands. Portland began well when a quick piece of thinking by wicketkeeper Christian resulted in the run out of a Bridport opener. Portland continued to bowl and field well against their more experienced opponents and with 2 Bridport batsman having to retire on 25 the innings closed on 136-3. Portland's openers 'Rattie' and 'The Prof began well and after 4 overs Portland were well up with the run rate. A change of bowling brought 3 quick wickets and despite a solid innings from Scott (who was given out to a debatable decision) Portland fell short of their target and their innings closed on 96-5. Coach Grant Neven nevertheless was more than pleased "All the team played well in what was their first ever match, the opposition coach was impressed with them and I personally could not have asked for a better effort, they can all be proud of themselves." |
