PRT Under 16's A.Riley,D.Strong,K.Farley,C.Laws,D.Weldon,L.Hallet. Portland lost the toss and were put into the
field by a strong Bridport side. Portland struggled in the first
7 overs being a fielder short, Luke Hallet being held up in
traffic. The Bridport bats man exploited the space in the field
and despite all the Portland bowlers bowling good line and length
Bridport amassed 120 for 1 by the time Luke took to the field.
Once Portland were at full strength the runs slowed and some
fine bowling and fielding (including 3 superb run outs) in the
final five overs restricted Bridport to 179-5. Portland's reply got off to a bad start with Khylo Farley and Luke being dismissed in the first two overs. Captain Aaron Riley and Daniel Strong kept the runs coming against some excellent bowling and fielding, but were always behind the required run rate. With the loss Aaron, Portland were always up against it, and despite a magnificent 36 not out from Daniel, finished on 113-5. Coach Neven commented: "Once again our lads performed well and are showing great improvement in all aspects of the game. All the payers stuck to the task, performed well and were a credit to the club. If they keep up this rate of improvement, they will soon be giving the more experienced sides something to worry about." Coach Neven's Man of the Match: Daniel Strong. |
