Triangle's miserable run of Division One results continued with a heavy ten-wicket defeat at Swanage.

Relegation to Division Two next summer now looks inevitable for Portland who have won just once this summer. And there was little chance of the islanders' poor form improving at Swanage as Simon Barrett's men laboured to a disappointing 165-7.

With no Portland player able to really establish himself, the total always look well-short and the east Dorset side had no trouble in knocking off the runs needed without losing a wicket. Only left-arm spinner Jon Dixon stemmed the flow of Swanage runs, conceding just 22 from his ten overs.

Sadly for the islanders, the home side were never under any real pressure when chasing such a modest total for victory and the latest defeat leaves Portland firmly anchored to the bottom of Division One.

"We were all really disappointed to lose so easily," said skipper Barrett. "Once again, we simply did not get enough runs. At this time of the season with such hard, dry pitches anything under 220 will really make it extremely difficult to win.

"In addition, the bowling needs more discipline as we concede too many boundaries due to full tosses or long hops. We're now look forward to a change of fortune next week when we host Dorchester and hopefully the fact it's a local derby will bring out the best in us."
