Triangle continue to search for their first win of the evening league season as they came second once again to Budmouth. Laurie West carried his bat for 37*, supported by Grant Neven (17) including a top-edged 6 over fine leg that he later failed to convince his teammates he'd hit straight off the middle of his bat. Skipper Dave Price looked to put the Budmouth bowlers to the sword, but attempted one big hit too many and was caught on the boundary for 17. Adam Smart barely troubled the scorers for two balls, undone by the artificial's uneven bounce, the first rearing up over shoulder height, then the next ball bowled him past his shins. A gritty 5 from Clifford saw Triangle to 92/4, though they should have broken through the hundred barrier.
Budmouth started brightly, looking to get quick runs on the board, but wickets fell quickly as Fred Ogley took two in two balls, but missed his hattrick chance. Fellow opener Morris got in on the act, tempting the dangerous Phil Morley into mis-timing a drive, and was well held by Price racing round to cover. Dave Clifford's mixed bag of spin proved decisive as he was unable to make use of the pitch, tempting the batsmen with some juicy full tosses that got what they deserved. Price proved more economical down the hill, but Budmouth eased to the win with 11 balls to spare.
