Welcome to the Second prtcc.com Fantasy Cricket Competition.

Buoyed by the success of last competition held back in the halcyon summer of 2003, when carbon footprints were the stuff of make believe and the England team were wondering why their latest World Cup campaign had gone so badly, the Fantasy Cricket League is back for the 2007 season! Reigning champion Mr. Martin Trevett will undoubtedly be looking to retain his title, and of course get to grips with this season's added challenge: picking a captain from our fine selection of leaders.

Please take some time to read through the rules before you enter your team.

Rules:

  • Entry to the competition is free to all-comers, but with just one stipulation for players at PRT CC: you have to pick yourself in your own team (if you are included on the initial selection list). That's right your own performances could win or lose you the fantasy cricket league.

  • To enter simply go to the team selection page and pick 7 players - 1 captain, 1 opening batsman, 1 middle order batsman, 1 all rounder, a wicketkeeper and 2 bowlers. You can pick the same player in two roles as captain and player - i.e. if you're a glutton for punishment then Tony Quayle can be your captain and opening batsman - though they won't score double points for runs, wickets etc., as the captains' points are only results-based.

  • Any captains listed have to pick themselves in their playing capacity (batsman, all rounder, wicketkeeper or bowler) but can pick one of the other captains to lead their fantasy team if they wish to burden someone else with the responsibility.

  • If a captain is absent for a fixture, points will still be awarded to him on the basis of his vice-captain's performance. If a captain resigns, retires or is dismissed during the season, no further captaincy points will be awarded to him, with the new skipper scoring points from his first game in charge. Any fantasy teams affected by this will be allocated the new captain and will be awarded points from that point forward.

  • Remember that all fixtures played by all senior Triangle teams count, so players have the opportunity to score points playing for Saturday, Sunday, PRT Pirates and Evening League teams; and also friendly fixtures (excluding pre-season matches). Any games played by Triangle players for evening league sides other than PRT or the George Inn will not count towards their total.

  • Team batting and bowling bonus points for Evening League and Pirates matches are calculated on the same basis as weekend league games, so captain's of those sides are still eligible for these points. Therefore the first bonus point is awarded for the batting side reaching 90 runs, and then an extra point for every 20 runs up to 170; likewise the bowling side receives the first bonus point for 2 wickets then for every further 2 wickets taken until the side is bowled out.

  • The points system can be viewed via the menu link (left) or by clicking here. In the event of a tie for the league title at the end of the season, the player's own points total will be used as a tie-breaker. For non-PRT players, the final score of their lowest scoring player will decide the winner. If still level bonus points scored will be taken into account, and if it's still tied then we'll think of something to break the deadlock.

  • Points will be awarded for all completed innings. Therefore if a match is abandoned then any runs scored, wickets taken, catches held etc. will count if the first innings of the game finished before play was stopped. This also applies to games that are abandoned after 25 overs of the second innings and the outcome of a match declared a result. Points will not be awarded if play is suspended during the first innings and the match is then abandoned before the innings is completed.

  • The deadline for team entries is midnight Friday 4th May 2007, with all points scored by any player counting towards your team's total for games played from Saturday 5th May until the last scheduled game of the season on Saturday 15th September against Abbotsbury.

  • Any teams entered after the deadline will only score points from the Saturday's matches after their entry is received. Only one team per person, so no multiple entries or all subsequent teams submitted by the guilty party will be withdrawn from the competition.

  • Anyone who enters a team with more than 7 players will be notified to allow any changes to be made for their team to comply with the rules. Erroneous teams entered before the deadline will receive full points for their players once the problem is rectified.

Transfer Window

The transfer window opens at the half-way point of the season between Monday 2nd July and Friday 6th July where you will have the chance to transfer up to a maximum of 2 players into your team and their points will start to count towards your team from Saturday 7th July onwards.

This gives you the opportunity to get rid of anyone who's underperforming for your side and swap them for someone who's in good form, and also allows you to transfer in any new players who joined after the season began or who were missed off the initial list. The make-up of your team has to stay the same as listed above, i.e. if you're making one transfer you can't swap an all-rounder to replace a bowler, it has to be like for like.
