St George's Day Beer Festival

Beer Festival organiser Rich Samuel and his sub-committee extend all their thanks to all club members and everyone else who turned up either to help out or just drink beer at a very successful event.

Also thanks go to the George Inn's landlords Anthony and Tracey Storey, who without them we wouldn't have been able to hold it at all.

The weekend raised around a massive Pfund3000, (hopefully more once all barrel sponsorships are in) towards club funds which should go a long way towards upgrading the grounds equipment.

Results Update

The Saturday 1st XI were unable to bounce back from the opening weekend defeat to Cerne Valley, as rain stopped play in the match against Parley 2nds. Dismissed for 89 on a bowler-friendly wicket, Triangle had the hosts wavering at 46-5 when the heavens opened.

Likewise, the Saturday 2nds couldn't build on their
impressive 127-run victory away to Sturminster & Hinton when the game against
Stalbridge 3rds was cancelled.

The Sunday 2nds were able to play the following day and triumphed with a
crushing 10-wicket win against Winton Sports 3rd. The visitors were dismissed
for just 39, which Triangle made short work of reaching without loss.

The Sunday 1sts were spared from the threat of rain with a bye last week, and
thus still remain unbeaten following their impressive 80-run victory at home to
Stalbridge.

Portland Red Triangle's return to Division 1 has proved to be a wake-up
call to the side that marched to the Division 2 title last season. Saggies were
first to burst the bubble with a comfortable 50-run win at Reforne over Olly
Whisker's team (click

Results Update

The Saturday 1sts recorded their first win of the
season in emphatic fashion with a superb 196-run win against Compton House.
Chris Leak was the star of the show with a brilliant double century, equalling
Jon Dixon's club record with a innings of 208 not out. Simon Proffitt supported
him well with 65 as they put on over 250 for the second wicket. Compton House
started well with but soon collapsed following the departure of their
clean-hitting opener and Triangle secured the points.
View
the videos of Chris' double century here...

The Sunday 2nds lost on their travels to North Dorset with defeat to Gillingham.

The Sunday 1sts made short work of Winton 2nds, reducing them to 118 thanks to
Callan Laws (1/13) and Matt Randell (2/21) taking early wickets and Scott Males
(3/39) and Chris Leak (2/10) mopping up the tail. Proffitt (64no), Jan Davey
(17) and Leak (37no) made short work of the run chase, knocking off the target
in just 14.4 overs. View
the scorecard

The Sunday 2nds once again fell short on their travels, despite a fine knock of
84 by skipper Dave Adkins. Shillingstone 2nds had looked to be heading to a big
score, but Marco Nott's spell yielded 4/29 as they collapsed from 194/5 to 219/9
at the close. Adkins provided the bulk of the runs,
supported in two 50 stands by Ryan Price and Nott, but Dave's dismissal saw
Triangle slump to 177 all out.

Only the Sunday 1st XI saw action this weekend and they continued their magnificent run, notching up a sixth straight win against Parley 2nds.
Chris Leake (88) and skipper Gareth Price (122) put on 145 for the first wicket, and useful contributions from Jan Davey (41) and Callan Laws (13) saw Triangle reach 300/6 from 45 overs.

Simon Proffitt made up for his lack of runs by taking a superb 5/31, with Scott Males taking his Sunday wicket total to 21 with 4/21 as Triangle skittled the visitors for 81.

Neven Sees Stars in Triangle Legends Match

A knockout performance by Ryan Price saw the PRT Legends to a convincing win against a PRT XI in the John Baxter Memorial Game at the Windowman Oval.

Christian "Podge" Brown took the plaudits with a fine spell of bowling of 5/31 including the scalps of Gary Randell, Jan Davey and Melvyn Tremlin.

Gareth Price had earlier achieved Legend status in record time, along with son Ryan, and put the All Star team in control with a knock of 50 (retired).

Saturday 1st XI Skipper Quits

Matt Gomm sensationally quit as Saturday 1st XI skipper
following the 1st XI's disappointing defeat away to Cerne Valley. Gomm has only
recently returned to capataincy duties following an extended holiday, and after
seeing his side collapse to 79 all out, decided enough was enough.

Results Update

The Saturday 1st XI crashed to their second defeat in a
row with a disappointing 9-wicket loss away to Cerne Valley (see report above).
This leaves them hovering precariously above the relegation places at 8th in
Division 3.

Meanwhile, at The Windowman Oval Reforne, Grant Neven led
the Saturday 2nds to their second win in a row with a convincing 8-wicket win
over Sturminster & Hinton, keeping them in 2nd place in Division 8.
Read the report here...

The Sunday 1st XI continued their fantastic form,
maintaining their 100% winning record with a superb 87 run win away to title
rivals Stalbridge. View
the scorecard here...

The Sunday 2nd XI bounced back from their
loss to Sturminster &
Hinton with a morale-boosting 2-wicket win over Christchurch 2nds. Michael
Males picked up a superb 5 for 24, including a hattrick in his first over to
reduce the visitors to 6-3.

Evening League

PRT's evening league form looks to be sending them back
down to Swift Signs Division 2, though an improved performance against Moby
Dicks Bears gave them some hope for their remaining games. Simon Proffitt came
agonising close to a century with 98, but Bears' strong batting line-up chased
down Triangle's 136.

Fun Feature: Extracts from the PRT Coaching Manual

Following the departure of the Saturday 1st XI skipper, and via a shady contact from the News of the World, we at prtcc.com have laid our grubby hands on the top-secret Coaching Manual issued only to Triangle captains.

PRT Win Evening League Fixture!

Triangle did what many had thought impossible and won a second game in this
season's Swift Signs Evening League Division 1. This result still leaves PRT
rooted to the bottom of the table, but gives them a glimmer of hope of avoiding
the drop going into the final few games.

Simon Proffitt continued from his 98 vs the Bears with a fine knock of 75,
but was run out with the scores level. Dr John "Doc" Walker saw the side home,
driving through the covers off the final ball of the game.

Results Update

The Saturday 1st XI notched up their third straight win since Matt Gomm's
resignation with a 64 run victory over Stalbridge 2nds and are now up to 5th
position in Division 3.

Despite losing their last 2 games, the Saturday 2nds are still in 2nd place
in Division 8 after their good start to the season and should look to cement
their position with a trip to bottom of the table Lytchett 2nds this week.

The Sunday 1sts have bounced back from their first loss of the season away to
Winton Sports, with wins
against title-challengers Symene by 51 runs, and this week a comfortable 6
wicket win at home to Lytchett Minster to stay top of Division 4. Scott Males
took 5 for 17, supported by Sami Rathnayake's 4 for 3, as the visitors collapsed
from 84/2 to 110 all out. Simon Proffitt (52) and Jan Davey (34) added 101 for
the third wicket after openers Leake and Price fell cheaply.

The Sunday 2nds up and down season continued as they convincingly beat
Cheselbourne by 89 runs, but then lost away to Ellingham by 8 wickets and
maintain their mid-table 6th place in Division 5.

Evening League Update

PRT made great strides to save themselves from relegation with 3 straight
wins which now leaves them with a chance of finishing 3rd. A narrow victory
against fellow Division 1 strugglers Budmouth started the run, which saw John
Walker hitting the winning runs off the final ball of the game to
win by 4 wickets.
Chris Leake's 89 inspired
a shock 9-run victory
over Echo Cup winners and title hopefuls Saggies in a game that swung back and
forth and either team could have won.

Triangle's Division 1 status was all but confirmed following last night's
convincing 104 run demolition of New Look. Rich Samuel's 40 not out laid the
foundations for Triangle's total of 122/6, but then New Look collapsed in
spectacular fashion as first Callan Laws (3/2) tore through the top order and
then Simon Proffitt picked up a superb fivefer as the visitors were skittled for
just 18. View the

Results Roundup

Results Roundup

The Saturday 1st XI followed up their
thrilling tie at home to
Bridport with an equally nail-biting finish away to basement side Blandford
2nds. After bowling the hosts out for just 132, Triangle made hard work of the
run chase as they crept home with 2 wickets remaining. Jan Davey and Simon
Proffitt led the recovery, and until he got out with 4 runs required, it looked
like Callan Laws had guided the side home. Luckily Elil Thureirajah was on hand
and held his nerve to hit the winning runs which sees Portland move up to 4th in
Division 3.

The Saturday 2nds scraped to a 2 wicket win against Lytchett, after skipper
Grant Neven took matters into his own hand to take 5-39 as the hosts were
dismissed for 126. It was left to the 9th wicket pairing of Michael Males (28no)
and Tony Morris (6no) to bring home the points. Unfortunately second spot in
Division 8 was lost after a 50-run defeat at home to league leaders Shaftesbury.

The Sunday 1sts season has stuttered following successive defeats as skipper
Gareth Price had to put the title celebrations on hold. Triangle travelled to
Kings Park only to lose to Pokesdown Willows. Two partnerships of 78, first
between Simon Barrett (61no) and Callan Laws (59) and Barrett and Matt Randell
(39) saw PRT recover from 48-4 to finish on 210-6. This didn't prove to be
enough as Pokesdown eventually eased home by 5 wickets.
View scorecard...

A low-scoring affair at the Windowman Oval saw Triangle slump to 72-7 before
an 8th wicket partnership of 20 between Scott Males (16) and Christian Brown
(21no) and 25 for the 9th between Brown and Morris (8) saw Triangle bowled out
for 117. A fine bowling and fielding performance saw Charlton Down wobbling at
97-8, but the visitors recovered to win in the 42nd over.
View scorecard...

Congratulations to Ryan Price on his maiden ton! Ryan hit a fine 116 not out
as the Sunday 2nds scored 298-1 against Pokesdown Willows 2nds, skipper Dave
Adkins also notched up 105 before retiring. In reply, the Willows were bowled
out for just 95 as Triangle look to maintain their Division 5 status.

Final Weekend Results Roundup

The Saturday 1st XI ended their campaign with a thrilling game against
Martinstown at the WindowMan Oval that saw them finish 5th in Division 3.
Triangle were bowled out for 177, with skipper Simon Barrett top-scoring with
36. In reply Martinstown were indebted to Ed Nichols (37) and Danny Dancer (56)
who led their run chase, leaving it to Moss and Read to hit the winning runs off
the penultimate ball of the match.
View the scorecard here...

Meanwhile, at Martinstown, the 2nd XI were looking for a maximum point haul
and then hoping other results went their way. A fine performance in the field
saw Triangle bowl their hosts out for 143, with Jody Locke the pick of the
bowlers with 5-37. Ryan Price marshalled the response with a composed innings of
59 not out, supported by Tony Quayle, leading them over the line for the full 20
points. Unfortunately it wasn't enough as Triangle finished 3rd, just short of
promotion. View the scorecard...

The Sunday 1st XI secured the Division 4 title with a superb 8-wicket win at
home to Bournemouth 2nds. After looking destined for the title a month ago, a
three losses in the last 5 games saw them drop to 2nd, but with their destiny in
their hands, Gareth Price led his side back to the top of the championship.
Scott Males captured his 45th wicket for the Sunday side, making it a
magnificent 70 for all weekend sides.
