Match Report by Coach Neven

Portland Red Triangle Under 13's 112-4 beat Cerne Valley Under 13's 111-1

Portland: M. Randell, J. Wilson, R. Johnson, C. Theakstone, H. Stone, L. Tugwell.

Having beaten Milton Abbas by a massive 86 runs in their opening fixture Portland went into the match against Cerne Valley in confident mood.

Captain Matthew Randell won the toss and elected to field. Despite some accurate bowling and some fine fielding Cerne Valley closed their innings having lost only one wicket (a fine run out by Jordan Wilson) on 111 after the completion of their 12 overs.

Portland's openers Ryan Johnson and Jordan Wilson took the attack to the Cerne bowlers and by the fourth over they had, with some impressive stroke play, pushed the total up to 62. Both departed quickly after, run out for 18. Portland number 3 Chris Theakstone played with style for a fine 13 before becoming the third batsman to be run out. Portland were always well ahead of the required run rate and despite losing another wicket, were steered home by Harry Stone (11 not out) with nearly 4 overs to spare.

Club Secretary Grant Neven commented "Once again the boys put up a fine performance, although the running between the wickets often had our supporters looking to the heavens, this is an aspect that we can work on at coaching. Thanks to all our supporters, who once again gave the team great encouragement and support."

Coach Neven's Man of the Match: Ryan Johnson
