Portland Red Triangle U16 99 all out lost to Milton Abbas U16 116-2 Yet again a good crowd gathered to watch an enthralling encounter between to well matched teams. Milton Abbas won the toss and elected to bat and despite some fine work in the field had their first three batsman retired after reaching 27, 26 and 25 not out respectively. Portland kept up the pressure with some accurate bowling and accounted for 2 batsman as Milton Abbas closed on a respectful 116-2. Portland’s openers Dan Strong and Alum Chapple attacked from the start and kept up with the required run rate until both fell to excellent catches. Portland skipper Callan Laws and Oliver Whisker continued to play attractive shots and ran well between the wickets as the game remained in the balance. Laws fell having reached 21 and despite a valiant effort from the remaining batsman fell 17 runs short with 9 balls remaining, Whisker being the last man out for a gritty 17. Coach Grant Neven was full of praise for both teams and added "It was a shame that either side had to lose, our boys once again showed great improvement in all aspects of the game and were a credit to the club."
