The Only Opinion That Matters

"So OK after several pints of the lovely Blackthorn I am often persuaded to express and elaborate on the burning issues of the moment. As a man who fears nothing (even the wrath of the lovely Terri) I shall in future 'NOTES' repeat and expand on those 11 p.m. debates that have entertained and informed over the past season and in the seasons to come..."

Note: Neville can get carried away and write exactly what he thinks so the language used can sometimes veer to the "agricultural" end of the spectrum, you have been warned...

Club members, avid readers and fans, Yes its time that I passed on some thoughts on that great British institution, Television viewing.

For one, let's look at the most popular shows - yes those wonderful soaps. Well, lets be honest about it, you have to have the mind of a large bar of soap to even view the bloody drivel that passes as entertainment contain in them. Why oh why is so much time wasted on watching, bad story lines and ham acting performed on sets that were possibly constructed using the Blue Peter Book of 'Make your own T.V. set.' Yes, there are those who say that the plots reflect real life, my question would be 'on what planet'. Still if it keeps a large section of our mindless public entertained, who really gives a monkeys?

What about the polifery of shows such as 'Stars in their Eyes' and 'Come Dancing' - the T.V. Company bosses are having a giraffe. Call that prime time viewing, what about informing the public about the bigger picture, world famine, government manipulation of finances and the reality of how we are all taking our planet to the cleaners. There is an old Sioux saying' we do not own this world we are but guardians for our children's future,' perhaps the unknown Whitehall mandirens, the leaders and shakers and yes you Joe public could bear that in mind the next time you are sat comfortable watching mind numbing dross.

Whilst no man can change the world, at least a free man can express their view. But watch out because rock the boat a little or stray from the norm and Big Brother will soon have you silenced - I kid you not.

But that's enough for now - I feel sure that once the season starts, those post match debates well inspire more comments from yours truly on the burning issues of the day.
